Magazine Photo Editor

Our client is looking for a Photo Editor to work on several regional publications. (Open-Ended Temporary contract).

This is the perfect opportunity for an Art Buyer looking to get into the Publishing field. This is NOT a position for recent grads. (This includes recent grads that have done work for University Newspapers and other Publications).

This person will:

Work with various Art Directors to obtain desired images.

Work with various Art Directors and editors to coordinate details of photo shoots.

Edit, color correct, etc all images until they are suitable for the desired "look".

Work in Photoshop and other relevant programs to prepare photos for final Editor sign-off/ press preparation.

Negotiate rates, set timelines, etc.


This position is approximately:

30% "hands on"

70% project management

100% communication


The required skill-set is similar to that of an Art Buyer.

Other Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS:

3+ years experience doing magazine/publishing page layout or comparable

Background in art purchasing is a plus

Knowledge and complete understanding of photography

A graphic design background

Ability to use Quark 6.5 with style sheets, master pages, etc

knowledge of color correction and use of photoshop

Samples of projects that you have worked on(samples should be uploaded to your www.aquent.com profile)

The ability to select and place photography

The ability to see the "big picture"

Superior project/time management skills

Superior ability to communicate effectively with other team members

Experience with vendor negotiations, etc.
