BP seeks an Aviation Safety Advisor

Relocation Options:
Relocation will be in accordance with current BP guidelines.

The Engineer Superintendent has delegated authority from the Regional Fleet Manager for the safe and efficient operation of assigned vessels within BP's modern fleet. Particular emphasis is placed on continual improvement in HSSE, vessel availability and cost management performance.

The successful applicant will be expected to carry out the Engineering Superintendent role for a number of vessels operating within the region by utilizing BP Shipping's quality management systems.

Accountabilities Include:
Work in a highly demanding operational environment.
Seek solutions on your own initiative.
Demonstrate excellent technical, relationship and leadership skills.
Emphasize safety, availability and costs of vessel performance.
Support sea staff in pursuit of BP’s performance objectives.
Develop staff including the completion of year end appraisals and discussing end of the year objectives.
Manage group risk associated with the transportation of hydrocarbons on assigned vessels.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of Engineer Superintendent applicants must have:
Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a Class 1 Combined or Class 1 Motor Marine Engineer DOT certificate.
The willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time, including internationally, in order to fulfill responsibilities of the position.
Experience ashore in a Technical Superintendent position working in a shipping office, or for a shipping company or equivalent.
Familiarity with the aspects of technical ship management including dry docking.

Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications the successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate:
Experience with the transportation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) or Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) on seagoing vessels.
Previous seagoing experience in a senior engineering rank onboard crude oil or product tankers.
Professional Engineering qualification.
