If you are the Sporting type, it is pretty much official.
The World Series, the NFL Season, Fantasy Football, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Pumpkin Pie, Colorful trees, that nice fire-smell that hits you when you get out of the car, the novelty of bad weather, Buck and Duck season, Hockey, Basketball, but most importantly...
College Football
With College Football's #1 and #2 teams both getting knocked-off last night, the controversial BCS computer has its hands full. Who will play for the National Championship?
Never in the 10-year history of the BCS has there been a greater cluster-fuck. The drum-beat for a College Football playoff will likely begin in earnest.
And yet, a playoff system would spoil the singular frantic beauty that is the College Football season. In no other sporting entity on Earth does each week matter so incredibly much. Every game has National Championship ramifications.
No system is perfect. But perhaps some can get close via their imperfections. If Heartbreak is what makes Victory so sweet, then as a system, the BCS alone provides both in spades.
