The Associate Major Gift Officer is responsible for the qualification, cultivation and solicitation for gifts of $10,000 - $100,000 from IIT's most financially able alumni, parents, and friends. He/she will be expected to think strategically and creatively, on a case-by-case basis across an entire pool of upper-end prospects, to construct a set of initiatives and activities leading to the solicitation of an appropriate gift from each prospect. This will be accomplished both individually and in close coordination with administrators, faculty, and outside volunteers. Collaborate extensively with President's Council, Planned Giving, and Alumni Relations staff.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Manages a pool of 75-100 prospects through cultivation and solicitation to closing, and then active stewardship.
• Establishes a schedule and routine to ensure documented, significant contacts presenting quality proposals to secure significant gifts to attain annual goals.
• Manages portfolio in conformity with IIT's prospect management protocol.
• Actively participates in prospect review sessions to develop the best strategies for assigned prospects.
• Directs one regional (outside Illinois) campaign; mentoring, motivating, and supporting volunteer leadership to help advance efforts with assigned prospects.
• Documents donor prospect contact per university protocols.
• Some out-of-state travel may be required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• BA/BS required (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• At least 1-2 years of sales/development experience.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Good writing, listening and verbal communications skills.
• Self-starter with an ability to prioritize independently to meet due dates/timelines.
• Sense of humor, ability to work independently and desire to be part of a team essential.
