Marathon Technologies Major Account Sales Director - Chicago Area

Reports To: VP Worldwide Sales

Overview:
The Major Account Executive will be responsible for attaining a revenue goal within an assigned set of accounts. The individual uses knowledge of the industry and an extensive rolodex of Mid-to-large Enterprise account contacts at all levels to strategically sell Marathon’s range of Availability solutions within the Central Region. The individual will identify opportunities for Marathon solutions at existing Enterprises where Marathon is currently in place, as well as opening the door within IT organizations at new customers in the territory. This position may entail as much as 50% travel.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Achieve assigned financial goals by driving sales in the target accounts headquartered within the Central Region. Sales may be direct, or fulfilled through a channel partner.

2. Responsible for developing an account plan and executing plans to achieve goals, including prospecting, qualification, account mapping of key contacts for executive level engagement, presentations, introducing new products and providing Marathon a local presence in the territory.

3. Responsible for all aspects of the selling process:

A. Identify Opportunity

Use contacts and experience to develop target specific accounts within the Territory to open the door for new Marathon opportunities
Follow up on leads provided through Marketing and Inside Sales
Leverage existing Marathon customer base to position Marathon for incremental opportunities


B. Qualify and Sell

Determine customer business drivers, pain and technology objectives
Identify key steps to close sale, identify decision maker and influencers, etc.
Determine budget requirements
Determine Availability needs and Objectives
Sell solutions meeting the goals of the customer and Marathon
Coordinate appropriate internal resources

C. Close the sale

Gain agreement of proposed solution, tying back to customer business drivers
Negotiate price, terms and conditions (with Channel, if through a Channel)
Close significant $ sales across multiple groups and products within accounts.


D. Administrative duties

Ensure receipt of a contract and purchase order
Accurate Forecasting of business

4. Effectively utilize Salesforce for pipeline development, tracking opportunity progress, developing monthly, quarterly, and annual account level forecasts, etc.


Requirements:

- Proven experience in creating opportunities in F1000 customers, sell primarily to IT executives
- Strong list of enterprise CXO-level contacts and LOB IT Exec’s
- Effective prospecting and networking to qualify opportunities and develop relationships in accounts
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and switch priorities effectively
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience in addition to 10+ years sales experience; specifically in the area of infrastructure software and/or systems
- Experience in Availability and/or Server Virtualization software technologies a plus
- Ability to work effectively with a team of Inside Sales, SE, PS, Marketing, etc
- Must be able to manage multiple customers and prospects simultaneously across a broad geographic territory
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Track record of having exceeded sales targets consistently and developed substantial large accounts with repeatable sales
